Default v2.6 routing question

Is it safe to assume that if you route a variable group to the main busses, delay compensation will work if it's turned on?

Hi Dave,

Yes, double bussing scenarios involving Var Groups are delay compensated, just as with the mono and stereo groups.

Not soon enough...

I think a better question is, why can't we ever just download these things instead of waiting for an upgrade package?

The tweaks are typically downloads, but the newer versions ala v2.0 and 2.5 were not downloadable.

Ah tis true-- it was the update to 2.5.3 that was downloaded. After updating so many things on all the computers around here it's hard to remember.

Hey Dave,

The short answer is that each major release also contains an updated version of the underlying operating system, in addition to the D-Show software. Under the terms of the software licensing agreement we're obligated to distribute the OS via CD only. I realize it's not always ideal, but the upgrade kits can typically be expedited w/ overnight shipping if needed.

Minor "dot" releases that only affect the D-Show software will always be downloadable whenever possible.

That makes sense. So I guess I need to get my plugin installers ready to reinstall.

Hi Dave,

If you do an update instead of a full restore the plug-ins can be installed directly from the "Previous Installs" option on the left hand list on the Options>Plug-Ins page.

The ECx software will need to be re-installed, but we've made that easier too. Once you've done the update simply remove all USB keys and then click the UPDATE button on the Options>System page. This should then find and re-install the ECx host software from the local hard drive.
