Default Midi in Cubase-Audio in ProTools

I'm doing some midi programming in Cubase, but need to export to ProTools for a client. Just what is the best way to do this? My main concern is the timing issues between both programs, and I obviously need the audio files in ProTools to lock perfectly to the work I will be doing in Cubase. So do I convert my midi stuff to audio in Cubase and then export to ProTools? Or should I just export the midi files in Cubase, and then convert to audio in ProTools?
Or is there a way that the two programs can sync up with each other?
Thanks!

Default Re: Midi in Cubase-Audio in ProTools

I had a similar project a couple of years ago. I found the simplest thing was to just record the midi as audio in Cubase, render each track as a separate sdii file and then import to PT.

Since Cubase renders faster than real time, it didn't take too long to "bounce" each track to a file. Just make sure you don't move the position locator so that all your files will start at the same point. Just import and line 'em up with the grid on.

I would be a little hesitant to assume that setting the tempos the same on both apps would give you really tight midi-based audio if you also have audio files that you've imported from Cubase.

I haven't really been using Cubase much over the past couple of years so I have an older version 3.5 VST/24. I was never able to get PT and Cubase to work together without crashing after about 10 minutes - that was with shutting off the audio engine in Cubase. They just didn't seem to play nicely together. I haven't tried it with 5.0 and SX requires OS X.
