Default clicking in MIDI track turns on RECORD on that track?

title says it all. this just started happening. I'll be working on a tune and I'll place the insertion point in a MIDI track and the record button is enabled on that track. this happens on the Instrument OR MIDI track. it happens on tracks with Keyscape or Kontakt associated with them. for some reason it is not happening on my Slate SSD4 tracks. it also does not happen on audio tracks. FWIW I do have an AKAI MK249 connected to the system.

is this a setting? a feature? is there a way to turn this off? no, I have not tried trashing preferences yet. just checking to see if there is a feature.

huh... happens all the time here. HIGHLY annoying. I'll delete preferences & see if that makes a difference.

I'll report back.

deleted preferences and now it doesn't do it. took a bit to remember all the settings in Prefs, but I think I did everything including keyboard enabled.

go figure.

other than that 2018.1 is great

This used to happen to me as well...I don't remember which version of PT

maybe 9 or 10.....but I think it is related to a preference.

and yes it was highly annoying.

But the good news is that it is not a bug...

this nonsense is back again, SIGH! ya know, it really feels like a "feature" and not a "bug". I wish I could figure this out 'cause it's fairly annoying from a workflow standpoint...

Default clicking in MIDI track turns on RECORD on that track?

There’s a few threads here on the DUC about this issue over the past few years.

There’s a few solutions that may or may not work. Do a search and see how you go.
