Default Overlapping Clips

I was wondering, if you insert an audio file into pro tools, say, a synth that has a lot of echo, and the clip lasts 10 seconds after the synths ended to make sure the echo isn't cut off, can you take that clip and put them back to back without the end of the first one being cut out by the second? Like have them overlap? Only asking because in Garage band you can't do it unless you make two separate tracks for each audio file.

Also, is there anywhere I can test out the software just to for simple things before I go out and buy it?

No Pro Tools can only play one audio file at a time on a single track. So you could separate them onto two tracks like in Garage Band. Or you could create a cross-fade between the two regions (on the same track of course), which actually writes a new audio file with the two files combined.

no demo to download but a decent music store should have a demo station set up or maybe there is an introduction class available in your area
