What Surround Bass Manager Do You Use?
Trying to see what surround bass manager plugin everyone is using. AAX. I know about the Waves 360. Are there any other good ones out there? Thanks.

Re: What Surround Bass Manager Do You Use?
Is everyone using a hardware unit instead of software?

Seriously, calm it and you'll sure have an answer / discussion in a few days. If in a hurry, google it during weekends and get in touch with your local / professional dealer when opened.
Personally, when possible, I avoid bass managers - even when listening through smaller speakers. I have my reasons. Fortunately though I don't use small speakers.

Re: What Surround Bass Manager Do You Use?
I'm using the hardware built into my subwoofer for bass management, but I've used Waves 360 before in situations where no other bass management was available. Worked without any issue. Waves should be able to give you a good deal on that software package. It's pretty old.

Marcel, Not trying to rush anyone. It was just an extra question I thought of. The post Thanks for your reply was in reference to a response that said the user did not use bass management and only uses discreet outputs. Not sure why his post doesn't show unless he just sent me a PM.

It's been that kind of day... Anyway, I don't use bass management but my screen channels are full range (12" 3way) and room allows decent low end extension (-3db at 19hz). A single bass managed sub is often to one side so the low end gets localized and I can 'find' the sub pulling to one side. I've had dual bass managed subs working ok. Since going discrete everything translates better on the stage.

Re: What Surround Bass Manager Do You Use?
I use a hardware blue sky bass management.
There are very few plugs out there. Good question! |

Re: What Surround Bass Manager Do You Use?
I've never encountered plug-in management that would adequately address the intricacies of an acoustic space.
Slightly older high-end audiophile gear can get your system beautifully tuned if you know what to look for. I've been using an Anthem Statement D2 Processor preamp as my D/A interface (multichannel HDMI from PT) for several years. It has lovely converters and one of the most outstanding automatic surround calibration and room EQ systems I've ever heard. You can choose your bass parameters to complement your gear. I use a Bag End sub with full range fronts and surrounds (old ADS/Braun 910s and Bryston amps) and have taken theatrical films projected and mixed in my den to full-sized dub stages and first-run theaters in Westwood CA where they were nuts on. You really can dial this stuff in if you're lucky enough to start with a room that's acoustically good (I have a gently pitched tongue-and-groove ceiling, diffused walls and adjacent spaces that trap and prevent bass build-up) or the dough to treat the problems. Good luck. Last edited by mostlypost; 03-29-2016 at 04:50 PM. Reason: Omitted detail |
