Need to deactivate surround I/O in PT9//

I need to disable surround in PT9//
I Clicked default in i/o on every available page
and i deleted the surround dpm plugs.
But still i am getting like 12 formats in my add audio inputs
and plugs are showing up in 5,1, 7.1 etc. all over the place (useless for me)
My previous PT8 rig was not behaving this way,
but i can live with just clicking stereo in PT9 so ready to move on
but would like a confirmation that these type of 7.1,5.1 inputs everywhere
is normal and that it can't be shaking of// looked in the manual and nothing.
