Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
I'm looking at buying a Presonus Faderport to use with PT10. I know there's some limitations to its functionality when it runs in HUI mode though. Does anyone know exactly what those limitations are?
From what I've heard it runs pretty well with PT, but has anyone had lots of issues with it? Thanks

Re: Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
On a stereo track you can only pan the left track.
The buttons are too stiff. You can't make your own shortcuts. Otherwise great. A FaderPort with two faders would be ideal. -matts |

Re: Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
Pretty sure there's a button push that will allow you to pan the right as well. In any case, I love mine, even though I have the 003 controller(mostly use the transport buttons and to select Mix/Edit windows(Presonus calls the EDIT window "Proj"). I also keep one at a friend's studio. He runs HD3 with a C24, and I use the FP so I can have transport buttons at my left hand(and leave my right hand on the mouse). I think Avid messed up by putting the transport on the right side of the C24(but that's just me)

Re: Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
Hold shift and turn the knob to pan right.

Re: Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
Faderport is rather stable here, but the most annoying thing is that it operates in banks of 8 faders. If you select a track outside the current bank, there's no response. E.g. in Cubase there is no banking, it just operates on the selected track (due to the Faderport driver for Cubase). Also, the panner can be a bit jumpy and inaccurate some times.

Re: Faderport Limitations in Pro Tools
Shift as Shift on the computer keyboard?
I believed I'd tried all combinations there was; Command, Option, Ctrl - as well as Shift. And all combinations of these. Including the Shift key on the FaderPort itself. But apparently I missed this. Great to know this actually works! Thanks! Can't wait to get back to the studio to try it for myself. -matts |
