Default Re: long PT 8 boot with plugins scan

This subject has been a weird one for me too -

I found that after I've done a complete reformat/reinstall of everything, the very first time I boot PT it takes ages.... then every time after that it's nice and fast.

Is that what you meant Tom?

I have the same problem. Each time after windows boot, ProTools scans each plugin very slowly (4min for complete load). When I close it after load, next load will be much faster (around 1min), so I see it's problem of PT, why is it refreshing plugin database at first run after windows boot? I have 8.04 m-powered version.

Are you hooked up to the internet? If so, do you run real time scan protection? If so, disable the internet network card, pause the protection until manual unpause if possible, and reboot, see if this takes any less time.
