Default Digi 002 dead fader! Spilled a tiny bit of soda in one channel!

Thanks y'all!

So just today, I spilled a tiny bit of soda into Channel 3 of my Digi 002. Now that channel is dead, and doesn't respond. Ran the fader tests, and no response from that channel as well!

Is there any way I can fix this fader? Maybe a way to clean it out? I've never opened up my 002, so this would all be new to me. Or should I just go for a new fader? I really don't want to send it in for this one problem. Haha.

Many thanks for your time and help!

After playing with it more, in standalone mode, the fader works. But in Pro Tools, no response with this fader (Channel 3). And when put into standby mode, all faders return to 0, except the Channel 3 fader...

Let it dry out. Cleaning the fader with something Caig DeOxit or Cramolin R5 might help. Make sure whatever you use has some type of lube in it. I'm sure that there will be some other suggestions.

I agree that the fader needs to be cleaned before anything else. If it gets stuck from "goo", you might burn out the motor. Not sure if I am bolder or dumber, but, I would spray it down with a cleaner, or maybe even dip it in a cup of alcohol(holding it by the motor so the motor doesn't get wet), shake it off, repeat a few times. Then let it air dry overnite, or use a can of air to blow it dry. Pretty sure you can buy a replacement motor fader, but you also should inspect the circuit board for any arcing and clean off any residue(Qtips and alcohol again). If you get stuck and want to risk $40, I have 1 replacement fader I was saving for a rainy day(but if the fader tests and moves, I'm not sure what to think about relacing it)
