I've had my HD Native system a few weeks now and I've not encountered any of these errors yet. I wish I could tell you what I was doing "right", as far as I know spotlight etc are all on their default settings.

I get these once in a while too, but, like everyone seems to be saying, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason for it.

I have my HW buffer at 1024 with long ADC. I've been mixing 30 minute shows with a conservative number of EQs/Comps/Limiters/Meters for the past 2 months without any problems other than the -9129 popping up occasionally (maybe 4 times?). Yesterday, I was simply listening to an edited session with no bussing or plug-ins and it came up with the -9129. Just clicked OK and kept on working.

All my sessions and its materials, video and audio, are on an external drive connected via USB2, but I'd be expecting a "can't get to disk fast enough" error instead and I haven't had any of those.

Specs:

PT HD 9.0.2
HD Native with 96 I/O
MacOSX 10.6.6
2 x 2.26 GHz QuadCore
6GB DDR3 1066Mhz

I get similar issues when plugin tweaking. The amount of CPU load seems to make no difference at all.

I am fighting with this errors for some time now and opened a case with Avid. We have tried several things but no solution yet. Just thought might share some informations with you.

MacPro 8 core, 10GB Ram, HD Native w. Omni IO, 10.6.6, PT 9.0.2

Based on the chosen buffer size, the errors are differing. At 256/512 i get mostly 9092 and 9094 popping up, at 1024 mostly 9094 and at 2048 error 9129 shows up.

I'm having/had the impression that i can force the error by scrolling either with the scroll-wheel or with the page up/down keys on the keyboard. First i thought that my graphic-card (ATI 2600 XT) had something to do with it (maybe not enough Video-RAM), so i exchanged it with a new ATI 5770, but no success.

After going thru every possible setting in Playback engine with AVID support nothing really helped, the error even appears in a session with 2 Audio and 1 Master track, no plugins. The lower the buffer setting, the more often the error appears.

I then followed a recommendation in this post and switched from my HD Native/Omni playback engine to the built-in audio device and you won't believe it, the error was gone ! In a not so small session (but not really that big and not so many plugins) i could not work at 2048 buffer size without getting the 9129 error frequently, maybe 10-15 times or so in half an hour, sometimes more than once in a minute. I changed to built-in audio then and could work for 5 straight hours, and that on 512 buffer size ! I worked now for two more days with this setting and did not get the errors again.

In my opinion there is something wrong with the combination of my HD Native/MacPro setup, maybe some interrupt-thing (or driver issues) with the graphics PCI card or whatever, just guessing.

So next week AVID support is continuing looking into it, i have send them the session for further investigation. I will let you know about new findings or a solution to this, I really hope i can get rid of it because right now working has become almost impossible with these errors popping up so frequently. I had a vocal recording session a week ago and it was very disappointing for the singer when the recording stopped for no reason in the middle of takes, it's not just playback-related. I am not a commercial studio, otherwise this would be a disaster. Having done this kind of investment i would expect a more stable experience, but there is still hope ;-)

Regards
Bertrand

This error is killing me now. I'd up'd my buffer to 512 and had been working happily on a project for the last 3 days no problems. Today open up to work on another show and things were going fine til about 10 minutes ago, now I can barely play a few seconds without the 9092 or 9093 error coming up. When I look at my CPU meter the RTAS meter is jumping all over the place and I don't have much going on plugin wise. Even after a restart things still are not working properly.

I have been running with both ethernet ports disabled at tech support's suggestion. I have had no errors at all. But I hardly ever getting them so I'm waiting before concluding that this has cured it. Might want to try that and see what happens.

Ya unfortunately I've got my artist series controllers plugged in there. Kinda need them right now for the project I'm working on. I'll give that a try once I've got some down time but even then that's not exactly a solution.

It'd be nice if DTS would chime in here, certainly seems enough people are experiencing this to warrant a response.

Thanks,
JR

Hi JR,
You'll have to forgive me if you've tried this already, and also allow for the fact that I'm not an HD Native user, so I may be completely incorrect....
Are you absolutely 100% sure that these errors are not plugin related...?
It's just that these type of errors in any other PT rig sound exactly like the sort of thing you'd get with an incompatible plugin.

It'd be good if you could try it while you're getting all these problems. At least we'd know for sure. There are cases open on this and if we have a solid cause they can look at a fix. It seems somewhat more likely now hearing that you're using controllers. Perhaps that explains why you get it all the time and I hardly ever do.

This issue has been brought to my attention by other techs (and the DUC posts) and we're continuing to investigate. As Jack says, it would be good to know if disabling ethernet 'fixes' it.

Either that or, if you can repro the error easily, do so then immediately quit Pro Tools and email me your log files folder (MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Logs>AvidLogFiles). Zip it up and send it to me at: vi (at) digidesign (dot) com. It may tell us something about what's going wrong. Please include either the thread title or number in the subject of your email as well as your DUC username.
