Hello. Well here is the link from their website. Surprisingly enough they are even taking 001 and the old original Mbox. Notice also that the sale ends March 18th, about two weeks before NAB. Is it possible they are introducing new hardware at NAB?

54% off retail for older TDM based hardware trade ins and 16% off for native based hardware trade ins.

Digi customer since 1988 I am surprised / disappointed that there are not upgrade prices/opportunities for 192/96 i/o owners.
This is first and makes me not want to upgrade my interfaces at all.
There was not even and amnesty for new purchases.

Hello. Well after spending some time reading the offer and all it entails, this is obviously a push for the Native part of Digidesign's business model. The obvious part is that you exchange old LE interfaces ('Native' interfaces for their time, sort of) for an HD Native system. Not a TDM system but an HD Native system. Native to native so to speak, and as Touchwood Studios points out there is no exchange for TDM hardware.

Now if we speculate a little bit, we can see that this offer ends in the middle of March and so they could introduce a new HD Native hardware line at NAB in April. Exactly like the prototype that was shown at the Intel Light Peak demo last year, which was a 192 I/O connected directly to a laptop with one cable. HD Native with Thunderbolt.

So paraphrasing the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, TDM based clients..."no hardware for you!". At least not yet, and not in this offer.

so froyo, what is the theory here? that there will just be new hardware based processing or that the HDN core card will be replaced as well? i'm tempted to do a trade in for the HDN card + omni or IO, but not if it's already undergoing a format change.

If for some reason they come out with a way to hook the interfaces to Thunderbolt, they would most likely allow a trade in of the HD Native Card hardware for this new interface. They would not abandon everyone who's bought a product that's only been out since about October.
