Folder bug report:

Clip gain shortcuts are not passed through to tracks in a routing folder, if the folder track is not in "Overview" mode.

This is actually very bad for my current workflow...

Also, if there is a routing folder *inside* of a routing folder, and the inner folder is in volume/etc (not Overview) mode, using clip gain on the top level folder works 2 folders down. So definitely a bug!

(Yes, I created a separate thread as well, not sure what is the best way to get bugs accross these days)

The best way to get bugs across is to contact support via support portal at your avid account.

Loving folders but getting a little frustrated at how long they take to open.

The “top-level” overview needs to behave more like a “clip group” . E.g. if I copy a block from verse 1 to verse 2 I need to be able to see where that block has come from, so it needs a) lines to see separations and b) the ability to auto-name or rename these “composite-clips”. You know, like a clip group does. At the moment editing at this “overview” level, with the folder closed, feels like you’re working blind-folded.

Apparently this is not a bug, but a design decision. A very bad design IMHO - I understand that in "volume" view we need to be able to edit the volume automation, but clip gain shortcuts don't do anything for an aux track (what it essentially is), so they should always be passed to the child tracks/contents of the folder, no matter what view the folder track is in.

If it has tracks going to million different busses, what would you think? Routing folder is different and just because of this there are two types.

Yes point taken.

I went back to using basic folders as I much prefer the "hard" mute on the folder, i.e. cutting all sends to fx etc. The mute on a routing folder seems pretty useless to me, in the sense that I can't think of any time I'd want the 'dry' tracks muted by the folder mute but all the tracks to be still sending to reverbs and delays.

This is one more exhibit why we would definitely need VCA-type folders as well!
