Default "ASIO Audio Device Could Not Be Initialized" Error during MP 9 Start up.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and really need some help. I'm trying to get my 2626 to work with MP 9. We're on Windows 7 and have the updated drivers installed. However, when booting up MP 9 it gets all the way to "Creating DAE Objects" then I get an error that says "the ASIO Audio Device Could Not Be Initialized". I then have the option to quit or hit ok. If you hit OK a playback engine window pops up. It's reading my Profire 2626, but I can't get it past there.

Any Help???

We're using a Gateway DX4300

Thanks

Did you go to the M-Audio site and download the driver for the 2626? That would be my first try

OK, so I've been doing endless research and this seems like a common problem, though I haven't seen this happen specifically with the Profire 2626.

The computer we're using has a Realtek Hi Def Audio Card. From what I gather, this may be the problem. Can anyone confirm or deny that Realtek HD and ASIO don't play together well? If so, how do I fix this? Be as detailed as possible please. Will ASIO4ALL help?

Thanks!

As the sticky's in the top of the thread state - you really should include more information for you to get more help - that being said AISO4ALL is AISO so yes you need to download and install that for windows as well.

I'm assuming the issue revolves around your HD on board audio/ soundcard a quick and easy fix would be to disable it in BIOS

Thank you!!! We'll get ASIO4ALL and see if it helps.

This isn't on my computer, and the place we're setting it up doesn't have internet, so I got what info I could from him. I tried walking him through the BIOS part over the phone but he couldn't find the sound card.

When I go out there this weekend I'll work on it a little more and see what I can figure out.

I have Realtek HD (onboard mobo) and I had this error pop up today with my 002R - which is curious, as PT shouldn't be using the ASIO driver for a Digi device, right? It happened after running iZotope RX, which does use the ASIO driver (the one Avid provides, ASIOforAll). Powercycling the interface fixed it. I've been using PT and RX alternately for months with no issues. Not sure what went wrong today. I also always have Windows using the 002R as my sound card. It has always played nice with PT. I'm able to use most programs and PT at the same time, e.g., iTunes/Quicktime and system sounds can play while I have a session open.
