PT keeps crashing..im at my wits end..PLEASE HELP!

this has been a reoccurring problem since a few days before PT 8 came out...i have done EVERYTHING.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled pro tools 8 4 times..i have trashed the prefs & databases over and over again. I tried the plugin thing i took EVERY plugin out of the plugin folder and added them one by one which took FOREVER(even the plugins that came with PT8)..i took out all the plugins i have added and just ran PT witht he stock ones and it did fine..no crashes at all and i kept adding and CONTINUED to NOT get crashes untill i got to breverb then it crashed..i said to myself "i found the problem" i deleted breverb and it STIL crashes after that.
I've posted at DUC, protoolsuser.net EVERYwhere..
i dont know why pro tools has started crashing like this..it has been working fine for MONTHS when i first got 7.4 no issue at all...i will say this again that it did NOT crash at all when i took all of the plugins out and it STILL didnt crash when i was adding them untill i got to breverb..so i thought it was fine then it came back.

At one point i thought it was my external drive(WHICH IS FIREWIRE400 & 7200RPM) SO i went out and bought another external seage 1.5tb external drive(WHICH IS FIREWIRE400 & 7200RPM)..still crashing so its not a drive..

im at my witts end guys..has this app ever had you so stressed out? and you have serious projects on the line?...please help me

When it crashes its only when opening,saving & closing session PT 8 quits unexpectedly...i even made a new account on vista and see if that worked STILL nothing helps:

my LAST option only seems to be a reformat(which i really dont have time for you even want to do) but if that fails then im FRESH out of option i've tried everything in the book guys..im truly at the verge of being defeated here, i have no idea what to do anymore.

your os, vista is 32 bit?? i might also try pulling some ram out. you have about 6 gb installed, pull it down to at least 4.

is this machine online?? if so virus scan, spyware, malware, cookies deleted, all that good stuff needs done.

any other new software installs or updates right before it started??? do you keep images via acronis or norton ghost of your machine?? if not you should. have you tried restoring to a date where it was working correctly??

have you monitored your ram usage when system is in use, via task manager?? might need to do the 3gb switch.

yea i thought about restoring my system to a previous date im going to try that next..no i have not gotten norton ghost..i will get it.

umm as far as update i think i got a few minor windows update

i have not monitored my ram usage..i will try that as well..

i ended up getting everything sorted out i did a reformat and the problem went way. The seagate drive is pretty good i'd definitely recommend you get it.



P.S. i just recently started having problems again when PT CRASHING out of no where i may try to see if the digibase is corrupt if that does not fix it i dont know what im going to do...i have reformatted my computer 4 times just to fix PT issues...ridiculous
