Goto settings in PT and choose i/o and there press default on ALL tabs like In/Out/Aux on both Input and Output and see if that helps,

Also Start PT first and hold down the "N" key and make sure you choose your interface when the popup window comes on and after that go tonsettings and do the steps i posted.

PS. What is "D Mode" ?

Tried all recommendations and still nothing. I can see the signal coming in the meter, hear the audio in the headphones. But when I record I don't see a waveform and there's no audio when I play back.

On the audio track you are recording to, have you set the right input from the interface and made sure the rec button is set to record?

And what did you mean by D Mode?

How experienced with Pro Tools are you?

What are you trying to record? With what model mic etc. how is that connected to the interface with what cable.

I think that interface has hardware monitoring so just hearing stuff in your headphones does not mean that signal is coming though Pro Tools.

What meters are you talkign about? The track meters in Pro Tools.

Does playback work at all? Create an empty session with a stereo audio track. Drag your favorite mp3 or similar onto that track. Do you see the waveform appear? Press play on the transport. Do you hear that track play? if not you have a problem here you have to solve first.

If you are tryign to record vocals or say audio from a guitar or bass you must create a mono *audio* track (not an instrument track).

The track is record armed correct? (red light on) and your transport is in record mode.

Start by workign with as simple as possible test session. i.e. An empty session with use one mono audio track, no master fader, nothign else.

Post screen shots of your play back engine dialog panel.

The IO>Setup input, output and bus panels

and your Mix widows clearly showing the input and output IO assignments.

Southside:

I'm admittedly not that experience (long time with SE that's about it).

I figured it out. I think PT was still mapped to another interface. So I closed out, shutdown, and when I restarted PT I held down "N" like you said and it recognized the Fast Track 8R.

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.
