Default HDX in new Mac Pro/Catalina

I have the new Mac Pro (2019) running Catalina. I installed my HDX card and have installed the latest Avid/PT software and HD Drivers (2019.12) still my HDX card is not being seen inside of Pro Tools Hardware Setup or I/O setup. I have not seen any threads on this.... Are the HDX cards supported in Catalina?? Can anyone please help

They aren't supported yet, but I've got mine working in a 16 core, 160GB RAM, 4TB model.

Which slot did you put yours in?
Mine is in slot 5.

How are you powering the card?

The new Mac Pro isn't officially supported yet, but I have a single HDX card installed in slot 6 (two slots below the Apple IO card) and it's working fine. Pro Tools 2109.12 did a firmware update on the card during the first launch.

Did you get the Aux Power Cable Kit? You will need it. Specifically, it's the one labeled "Cable Set 3 - PCIe Aux Power Cable 6-pin to 6-pin".

Hi All,

I’m looking to pull the trigger on a new Mac Pro to run my HDX system. For those who have got it running, how’s stability been?

Thanks,

Ryan

Look for a thread called "2019.12 Discussion" A few folks wrote in there about the new Mac Pro.

I'm running into the same situation as the original poster. I have installed as Avid Recommends here (slot 2):

Apple Mac Pro 7,1 Slot Order

In the second slot. I am using the Belkin AUX Power Cable Kit for Mac Pro or one 8-pin to dual 6-pin cable and have the other end of the power cable in the Mac Pro in slot 1 (I've also tried slot two).

I've installed the HD Driver multiple times, restarted multiple times and no luck. The HDX Driver just won't show up.

I'm on a 16 core with 160 GB of memory. The mac shows that I have a card installed in Slot 2.

It sounds like some of you may be having success in other slots. When I get a moment, I'll try those other slots and report back.

Well, interesting enough, I found that when I went into System Preferances - Security & Privacy and under the General Tab, it said it had denied Avid from installing because it was an unidentified developer. So after I told it to trust Avid, I installed it yet again, restarted my computer and it was there.

So if you are running into this problem, check Security & Privacy settings.
