Default PT11 Crackling Entire Time

Constant crackle the whole time I'm trying to mix. Played around in Playback engine and gets a little better or worse.

Headphones straight in. Only hardware is Ilok.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Had a similar problem that drove me nuts recently. Had a low level crackle that came out of no where. Eventually though sorted it. I had fiddled about with some USB leads and inadvertently re plugged my m-box into a USB 3 port instead of a USB 2 it had previously been connected to. after a lot of messing about I went to reinstall the drivers and saw the note on the download page saying USB 3 ports caused a problem, swopped the lead to USB 2 and all was fine !

May not be your problem, but worth noting !

Cheers

Clive

(A) What interface, and (B) is your sync source set to "internal?"

"(A) What interface"
No interface. Just plugged headphones in to laptop next to Ilok dongle.

"(B) is your sync source set to "internal?"
I can not find this setting anywhere. Keep in mind we're talking PT11. Closest I can find is in hardware setup - Pro Tools aggregate i/o and says "built - in microphone" and is at 48/24 the same as the session.

So, to answer my own question, and possibly help others, the solution has to do with adjusting my mac preferences settings. Once I made sure it was on the output of "headphones port" the problem seemed to disappear. Although it may be a combo of adjusting things. My current settings are:

Mac prefs for audio - input - protools aggregate device
- output - headphones port.

Protools settings under hardware:under protools aggregate - input mic is clocked.

Sometimes re-seating a connector solves the problem. Or trying a new cable may help too.

The Ignore Errors During Playback/Record option determines how Pro Tools responds to error re- porting from the Avid Audio Engine (AAE) during playback and recording. This can be useful when working with instrument plug-ins where you care less about clicks and pops in the audio signal while you work on composing and arranging. Once you are ready to work on the final mix you should dis- able this option.

How is that option set?
