Default From Cubase to protools 8, frustration...

Hi Guys,

Long in the tooth, and learning protools 8. Forgive me if this is a common oversight, my problem is this:

I record a few a bars of midi, the want to edit while looping in the midi editor.
I click in the midi editor and the thing stops looping... Argggggggggg!

It's getting in the way of how I like to work, is there a simple fix?

Thanks.

Click the 'Link Time and Edit Selection' icon near the top of the midi editor.
Deselect it so it goes from blue to grey.

The keyboard shortcut is Shift /
Not sure it's any faster though.

Thumbs up Re: From Cubase to protools 8, frustration...

Yep!

Now that's what I'm talking about! Can see me breaking away from cubase real soon.

Thanks again.

I did the same about 7 month ago.

Just watch this: in PT there's no "history undo". So if you use Audiosuite, you only have undo 32 times backwards! So copy your playlists or track before...
Also, in PT there is no zoom with the mouse, wich is difficult if you come after a long perios if using Cubase.
The audio cannot just be cut&gained up so easy like in Cubase, is more common in PT to use automation for that.
So..there's some things you just have to get used with.

Thanks for that

More Pros than Cons though,

like the smart tool in midi editor, shortcut qwerty keyboard on the way and after years of cubase the accelerated protools videos are great.... (The guy presenting is just toooooo good.)

I think I'll have a copy of cubase installed incase I need to go back and do something specific, but I think I'll get used to protools as I've wanted to learn it for years but didn't like the look of midi in it. Looks much better now, I will just have to do some walk throughs before up and running.
