Default Upgrade 8 to 10 - Lost 8 install disc

Hi,

Two part question. I purchased 8 a whil back, went through a nightmare living situation where the original installation disc is no more.

Now, I have a brand new machine, and was interested in either reinstalling 8, or upgrading to 10.

I have the product information card for the Mbox2. I want to believe I registered it properly when I bought it, though my Avid account does not show that as a registered product. It shows other products I bought, but not that. I am assuming it should.

If I upgrade to 10. Is it going to throw a fit and ask me for a disc? Or will the mbox2 registration card information give me what I need?

If I don't upgrade to 10, is getting a new installation disc going to be like pulling teeth?

You dont need a PTLE 8 disc to install 9 or 10.

As long as you have your Authorization Number you can use any PT8 LE disc to install LE8, such as borrow one from a friend, if its available in your Avid Account - download it, or you can purchase a backup disc, they are usually around $15.

Your Mbox 2 will not show up in your Avid account, you can call avid to confirm you registered it, but that does not show up in your Avid account.

PT9 and 10 use an iLok for the authorization, so you will need one of those as well.

Your Mbox 2 has been discontinued, maybe it is time to consider getting a new interface.

One option you may want to consider, instead of shelling out $499 for the upgrade from LE8 to PT10, you can purchase an Mbox Mini (3rd gen) That includes PT9 with a free upgrade to PT10, an iLok key, and some free plugins for $599 at Sweetwater.
