Question for Avid Tech Support: Omni Calibration
Hi
I have a question about Omni calibration... The outputs sit at about -21dBfs=1.228V with the trims at 0.00. Obviously you have control over those and they can be calibrated however you need. The inputs on the other hand are at -20 and there seems to be no way to control them (?). This is a (not insurmountable) problem for me because my working method involves accurate calibration of all ins and outs across the system. Is there any way for me to alter the gains of those AD conversions? An interneral trim pot perhaps? Thanks very much Jack |

Re: Question for Avid Tech Support: Omni Calibration
Jack I have similar questions.
I have a HD 8x8x8 that I want to validate the analog I/O calibration using the Omni as reference for the inputs. 1. If I run the output of my Omni (all 8) into the 8x8x8 today; using the AVID Calibration Session and procedures (-18db target in the software configuration, sine wave -18db output of the signal generator on the track, peak) the input read on the 8x8x8 is -14.7. 2. If I disconnect and the loop output to input within the 8x8x8 and following the same calibration procedures, the reading at the inputs are -20.5 (output to input, using the same signal generator parameters). My question to anyone who knows; what should I expect to read at the input of the HD 8x8x8 from the output for the Omni if using the calibration session from Avid? What is the manufacturers calibrated output for the Omni? Or if someone has tried the same process what should I expect on read at the input of the HD8x8x8? |

Re: Question for Avid Tech Support: Omni Calibration
I'm dying to know the same thing, but I'm more interested in the inputs, since they are of fixed calibration and not documented. Jack, where did you get -20? Your own measurement?

Re: Question for Avid Tech Support: Omni Calibration
Jack is correct - the inputs are calibrated to -20 and there is no trim on them.

Re: Question for Avid Tech Support: Omni Calibration
Thanks again. -20 is the best case scenario for me.
