Default 7.1 PCM Audio to BluRay Disc

Hi
I have been told on a previous thread that it is possible to burn 7.1 uncompressed audio to Bluray disc - no DTS/DD encoding necessary.
My question is does anyone know how I would do this / what burning software I should use?
I would export the 8 mono channels from ProTools LE with CPTK and then....
Hope someone can help
Many thanks

Either do an internal-layback or bounce to disc and use "multiple mono". It will export how ever many channels are in the source that you're bouncing. I use Compressor (part of the Final Cut Pro bundle) to create my dvd audio files but that's up to 5.1 I believe. I think you'd need some sort of DTS-HD encoding software.

Thanks Ryan. Apparently bluray can handle 7.1 surround channels without any need for encoding, my surround amp definitely accepts 7.1 PCM audio channels and my bluray player will output it to the amp via HDMI but I'm just not sure which software will give me the option of burning it to the disc like that.
It's also completely possible that i'm way off the mark and have it totally wrong.
Any ideas anyone?

I'm unaware of any software that will allow you to do that...yet.

Not saying it isn't out there, I just think I would have come across it if it were...you may be on a fruitless hunt, if my info is correct.

Ah righto, thanks for that DigiTechSupt.
Ok so would you know the easiest way of encoding DTS or DD from ProTools LE with CPTK?
I'm guessing an expensive plugin purchase is necessary...hope not though!
Thanks

http://store.dts.com/

It depends on what you call "expensive"

DTS-HD is a lossless format, btw. "bit for bit identical to the studio master"

Check out the Minnetonka Audio products - they have some reasonably priced solutions...

Thanks for the help guys. It seems the only option is this: http://www.hhb.co.uk/hhb/uk/products/detail.asp?ID=2382 but it's over £1000. I was hoping for something a lot cheaper.
The Minnetonka stufff seems to be for compressor only (i'm on a PC) and any other encoders only seem to do 6.1 max.
Any ideas?

You would need access to a legit blu-ray authoring system. Blu-print, Scenarist, maybe even DoStudio, to put PCM on a blu-ray disc (which is possible).

You could also utilize the DTS or Dolby options, but even if you managed to encode them, you'd still need an authoring system to get the encodes onto a disc.

And.. DTS-HD is not lossless. DTS-HD/MA is lossless.
