new iMac has no CD for installing drivers and protools

i have the new iMac (OS X Mountain Lion) and it has no cd lector

i bought a m-audio fast track and i want to install the protools it comes with.. but how?

can anybody help me?

Have someone transfer the disk to a USB device and you're good to go.

I've been looking for a solution to this problem for DAYS!! There seems to be no clear solution on M-Audio's or Avid's website, which there should be. So I took the time to join this fourm just to thank TOM@METRO for the link! THANKYOU SO MUCH

Most new computers ship w/o optical drives for good reason. Clients want FTP uploads/backups to ext drives or cloud/software DL'ed from servers/CDs are dead/movies stream. Optical drives are (becoming) legacy hardware. My 2 cents!!!

I agree that disks are going the way of the dinosaur, but we are not there yet. There are still a ton of software vendors that have not made the digital transition. That's the one thing I dislike about Apple, they cram their way down your throat and expect you to submit and find workarounds while everyone else is catching up. Some of America still doesn't have high speed Internet to be able to download the files they need online. Apples assuming that everyone has Internet and that is not the case everywhere.

I'll guess I'll be keeping my external Plextor DVD burner around for a while just in case.

Hi,

Might be worth noting that if you have another mac computer you can firewire then together holding the T key whilst booting the main computer, it will then see the second computer and also be able to use its drive for loading software.
