Default input / output signal problems on mbox

I run a mbox 2 on mac osx 10.4, however everytime I cue up "R" to record i get a full bar gain meter and this big block wav form is recorded, started happeneing after I recorded audio off a portable recording device using spidiff connection, havent been able to get any anolog signal through the 2 inputs since? I tried backtracking all my moves but i cant figure this one out.

someone throw me a bone

Regards
Dweeks
