Default hard drive noise on balanced outs on M Box

any one else found this, it's on a G3 Laptop. I used to get this when running PT Free and using the normal ins/outs on the lap top. If you run off a battery it's fine so it's some kinda earthing problem with the mac I guess. I happens on another laptop also. Any ideas?? It doesn't record the noise by the way...which is obviously good, it's just a little bit annoying.
