Default The brilliant Avid Mbox Pro (3G) casing deserves a firmer knob

Purchased Feb 28, 2013. Avid Registered.
Love the Tools – but my Master Volume knob is way too loose

I’ve noticed some threads about the Volume Knob (hold that thresh, Lautrec!)
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t...box+Pro+Volume
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5WtguIngGI&NR=1
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=294650

I finally got to “HD11-Heaven” and don’t want part with my Mbox Pro just yet.
Can my Warranty repairs wait? How long have I got to make a claim?
(The Volume Knob still works, but it shouldn’t be as loose as it is)
Does my Product Registration include a free Support Code? If so, where do I find it?

To minimise down-time, I’d like to get the Volume knob repaired locally.
(Australian Authorised Avid Repairer: Technical Workshops Pty Ltd.)

Looks like I’m not the only one with knob problems….
If you’ll pardon the dribble – is there any solution in sight?

If its registered this year and in February, as you stated. Then your warranty may cover the repair, the only thing you would pay is the shipping cost to the repair facility. And as far as ASC codes are concerned, you receive a complimentary code when you register your Mbox Pro via email

If the video reflects your problem, just cut some sandpaper (very fine!) and align it inside the knob. Or just have Avid send a new knob. NOT worth shipping over that! I used to do the sandpaper thing on guitar knobs - u really don't even need sandpaper, just something inside to snug the fit.

Thanks for your replies – I apologise for my poor diagnosis.
The Volume Knob itself sits snugly (on its “protractor-shaped” Pot).
I wrongly called it a loose Knob – it’s the Pot that is loose.
This thread should have read:
Pot on the loose – and we’ve got the wobbles!

Big thanks to Avid Support…my complimentary ASC code produced the fastest RMA number this side of the black stump!
That bloke deserves a pay rise – very quick to tell me that I definitely had warranty coverage. What a great attitude. I’m impressed.

I love a happy ending…
