Default Help picking computer casing

I'm adding up what I need to build a new computer. So far I've picked out:

MoBo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...YTE-_-13128438

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tops-_-AMD-_-1

Memory x2:
http://www.google.com/products/catal...W2tgfMk-SjCQ&s

But now I'm looking for a casing and I can't figure out the sizes. The MoBo is 12 by 9.6 inches, will that fit in most cases or do I have to get on eof those big ol cube shaped ones? i saw a case that said it was compatible with 12x10 atx boards but it was only 7.6" wide so I'm assuming you mount the board on its side?

Also, I'm noticing alot of cases dont have a whole lot of usb ports and such, which is one of the reasons I chose that board. Do you have to look for a case with enouugh or do you usually make a whole for it or something?

I'm new to this..

PS if a mobo has integrated graphics that bypasses when you get a card right? I've heard integrated graphics aren't good for PT8.

Not that its a bad choice to build AMD, but I think you'll find some of the best builds here.

Sorry I got caught up I didn't answer you Qs

That Mobo is standard ATX so any case that supports ATX will work. I personally am an Antec fanatic. So obviously i'd recommend Antec 300, or SOLO, or Sonata, or P183. There are other options, too many to mention.

As far as integrated, yes, if its disabled in the BIOS then it should work with PTLE 8.

Still the mobo you selected has no integrated and isn't a bad choice for an AMD build IMO. but you must checkout the i7 thread BEFORE you buy

Ok that helps.

I've looked through some of the builds before and looked again. I think I'm gonna stick with amd because i wanna do some overclocking and would rather not burn a intel. My laptop is amd and I love it. I plan for this to be a sorta ongoing project anyways :)

So as far as a case, you just have to find one with the outputs you want or can you mod it?

Also that motherboard is mostly SATA 6gb/s drive inputs and i was wondering how that works out. I read a little about it and a lot of people claim that there is no need for the upgrade because the computers cant handle it anyways, do you second that? I was planning to get around 16 gigs of ram by the time im done and overclock the proccesor pretty good. Seems like a fast transfer rate would be awesome for pro tools.

I'm confused,

What do outputs have to do with the computer case? Case is about size, looks and most of all cooling/airflow. Outputs are on the motherboard not the case.

16 GB of RAM is too much IMO. There is no reason why 8GB shouldn't be enough (most users that have 8 are probably using less than 4GB - like me).

An Intel CPU is less likely to BURN than AMD IMHO , but either one will only BURN if you don't know what the h3ll you're doing. Get a good CPU cooler and don't over volt.

SATA 6 GB/s is a welcome addition, not many drives take advantage of it yet but some SSDs are, and more to come for sure.

Ahh. You will need a PCI USB Bracket as they are normally called. Newegg has them. Some times they are included with the Mobo.

Normally the board has several USB Ports on the back panel and then several USB headers on the board. Their are 2 USB ports per header. So you want a USB PCI bracket that has the correct number of ports. Generally they come in 2 and 4 ports. your board says that it has 4 USB and i 1394 port. One USB header is needed for the front panel. So I would look for a USB/Firewire combo bracket.

.
A great place to look at the cases in person is a store called microcenter - they have them on display to touch and checkout.

There are a TON of cheap good looking crappy built cases out there - do your homework! There is not a lot of difference in price between a good and bad case.

Best bet is to try to get name brands like CoolerMaster or Thermaltake - not only are they well built - the insides are not sharp edged metal like some of the cheaper cases.

Most of the name brand cases have a good amount of extras to build your PC and plenty of space. I bought the Thermaltake Spedo and it was easy to put together and very easy to update for extra drives or cards in the future.

I am not exacly clear on what you are asking - An add on card will use a PCI slot, you can get the USB add on cards at low cost (USB 2 or 3) so if you found a MoBo without USB3 you can buy the add on card later.
