Default I love Avid, but now I`m greedy

This is incredible.
Downloaded the <2gb update for m-powered and voila I´m running PT 9 of my native audio card on my iMac. now I`m just trying to figure out if I can actually split the signal coming in to pro tools.
If I use a Minijack-Dual Jacks cable and put the jacks in two separate insert plugs on my mackie mikser. I should be able to send separate mono signals from those two preamp channels into separate mono channels in PT. Am I right here folks?
Haven`t got one of those lying around but this is my theory.

Also with the Native INstruments Guitar Rig Mobile interface. (small 192khz usb2 thing) PT ) runs great :)

You guys totally rock.

Anyone get what I`m asking?

If I get a split minijack cable, can I run 2 separate preamps into PT9 (Or any DAW for that matter) using the built in line connection on the iMac?

I thought the onboard sound might be improved a tad since G3 days, being on a new iMac and all.
And it`s just for doing ideas for a few months til I get the new MBOX.
