Default Atto Scsi card

Do I need the dual channel for the G4. I'm currently using a 9500 with a 2940 card. I'm upgrading to a G4 and I understand that the 2940 will not work with it.
Thanks

That is correct. If you have a APG G4 you will need the dual channel ATTO card. The 2940 will not work with PT on the G4. I just went thru the upgrade a few months. Be prepared to spend some dough on the ATTO card. It is not cheap in comparison to the 2940 card.

Regards.

Actually, the 2940 will work on a G4 with ProTools 5. I was using that untill the 5.0.1 upgrade. I'm not certain, but it seems that the 2940 will work, but they haven't tested it or only endorse the ATTO. You may be fine, though using the 2940.

Very interesting David. My local Digi dealer told me the Atto card was the on scsi card approved for the G4 with PT 5. What is the official word digidesign? Did I pay for something I didn't need? Can a person use the
2940 scsi card with PT 5 or do we have to use the Atto card on PT 5?

I couldn't get my G4 up without the ATTO card, I did the 9600 upgrade and thought I'd just switch out cards...but no luck - I'd love to know how you did it too, if it works I might have an ATTO card for sale!!
