Great additions, thanks, Justin!

Still struggling with the authorization, though. I always authorized on the internal drive, so I wouldn't have to carry another dongle with me all the time. Had a few troubles with two of my machines, so I had to wipe the system drives, and forgot to deauthorize Spanner first.
So, once again I'm left with one license only on my main machine, - and can't even deauthorize this one license, so I could place it on a dongle after all. The authorizer says, that deauthorizing wouldn't put the license back to my account.

What's the point of deauthorizing then?

This is really bugging me. Had this several times now, and while it sure is not a common thing, that one has to wipe his drives all the time, I'd love to see a different approach to authorizing spanner, that would cover losing an authorization due to a system crash and a following wipe of all data.

sorry to hear about that.

firstly: authorisation systems suck.
I wish it wasn't necessary and I wish it was painless (and I wish it didn't cost me so much development time) but people steal stuff if it's easy to do so.
so please, cut us devs a little slack in this dept. as it's more hassle for us than you.

now, Spanner allows 3 auths - 2 of which are "backups".
in case of further disaster, contact support...

There is a different approach. You can authorize a USB stick. You can wipe your system drives as much as you want then and you can even freely move the authorization around.
I also put the most recent installer on the stick which is very handy. With iLok I always have to look for the installers on the net when I come to a studio that doesn't have the plugs I need. With the stick everything is in one place.

Just a thought.

Frank.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame you for that.
I do understand the need for copy protection, and I'm perfectly fine with a few "obstacles".
But at least - if I deauthorize, I think it would be good if this license would be put back into the account.

@Frank:
I'm aware of that, but like I said, I'd like not to have to carry around another dongle, that I'd probably forget anyways, when I'd need it the most.

And that two of my three machines acted up and I lost both of those stored licenses has been a mishap, that surely doesn't occur often and to anyone, so I do understand, if people don't agree.
Also, I don't want this thread to become an authorization-rant. Justin contacted me by PM already, and we'll sort this out.

So, thanks, Justin. Great support for a great plugin!

Justin,

how about auto tracking of the picture by Spanner? Place the pan DOT on a point in the picture and Spanner tracks it.

Just updated to 2.0.6.
You are genius! The "Overlay" option is so simple and is so handy for precise panning.! I wish it would be possible to play "Out of PCIe" to see it on a big screen...but then its not a computer screen anyways.
Also Solos buttons are very welcome...though you may want now to add "mute" ones as well.

@Peter Cole - autotracking is a great idea and you're not the first to suggest it.
would take a serious amount of CPU intensive processing to do such a thing and I imagine it would be flakey at best.

and besides.. us human operators gotta keep some control right?

@mgoorevich - by "out of PCIe" I guess you mean blackmagic cards?
you can certainly put the overlay up on the big screen if your pix are playing out a standard video card output - just not those BM cards.

why? better than a shaky hand on a joy stick. Probably using your new functionality and Glide would be slick.
