Default Some MIDI Workflow Questions / Suggestions

Hi folks,

Trying out some classical composing in PT 11 today with Ivory and VEP. Came across a few MIDI workflow issues that maybe Avid can help in future updates:

- Is there a key modifier to change a note's velocity as you drag up and down on the note or do you have to use the velocity lane below? It'd be handy if there was a modifier.

- It'd be helpful if hovering over the note told you the velocity of the note. Same with hovering over the CC data. Right now you have to click each node to get the reading.

- Cubase's CC modifier nodes is a really handy workflow tool. You can compress, scale, etc. all of the values at once.

- Although it has the note colors varying by velocity, it isn't as clear as in Logic / Cubase because they use different colors rather than just the shade of a single color.

Any other ones you all can think of?

Thanks!

Default Re: Some MIDI Workflow Questions / Suggestions

on a PC. select some notes, press control and drag up and down.

for monitoring midi values. select the note or tab through the notes while using the selection display located in the drop down menu.

Use the real time midi properties and you can scale away, compress,

I think the color scheme is smart in pro tools in that you can have your tracks different colors and those will show up in the midi editor. Make sure you select the little multi color box in the top left of the midi editor next to piano keyboard.
You can effectively edit several tracks in the same window this way.

I think covers most everything.
