That setup looks really sweet IMHO and factoring in the desk aswell it might be a good idea looking for a used desk as some of the Argosy ones cost almost as much as the hardware that go into them

Nice picture, thanks for posting.

Here is another nice S3 setup:

Yeah, I noticed the Argosy's were really steep, but nice quality. I currently have an Omnirax Force 36 and it's a really nice size and has a TON of rack space. Not sure it was worth the $1700 I paid for it as it seems to be made of particle board. But I love the desk. I noticed Dave Pensado actually has the same one.

What is that desk you pictures? That's a really nice one too. Was considering just building a desk too. I would like to have some surface space so people can sit their laptops/notebooks on while we work.

Yes the Argosy are very steep indeed

I will ask but i think it is a build from scratch as i never seen any desk like that.

If i were you i would try and use the one you have, those are super sweet or if you can't make a nice rebuild of the desk maybe see if you can find some blueprints off the web and build your own. Forking out 3-4K or more is a lot and if you build a really nice one you probably would pay less than a 1000 dollars and that will give you a nice quality.

There is always going to be a bling factor for the inexperienced studio client. The more experienced client the less need for bling where they know it's all about the end result.

It's important to design around the market you are servicing, but it's also wise to consider where you plan to be in the future.

We all know all too well that this is a very difficult business these days. I could never do this for a living today. I pick my projects and frankly rarely charge. I love helping people achieve their dreams, at least as much as I can contribute.

One thing that everyone should realize though, (Christopher) Southsidemusic's recommendations should always be taken seriously. He always gives solid advice.

Yeah, my plan is to not take anything from my personal studio if I can avoid it. So it will for the most part be all new/used gear, depending on how I can stretch the funding. The way I would want to build the acoustics I could easily blow a whole budget on just the build before I even get to the gear. So I have to see how I can make it stretch. I want to really prioritize the actual construction over the gear as much as possible. It's a lot easier to upgrade gear later than it is construction.
