Default Unbalanced meter display

Hey all

I'm running 12.8, been on a hiatus for a bit but back!

Anyway, I run a hybrid setup with outboard and external summing. I bring the summed stereo audio signal in on an Aux in PT and route that to a stereo Audio track. I do input monitor while I'm mixing and print my mixes to the audio track by recording the tune.

On the Aux input, the meters show balanced signal between left and right. I have a meter plugin that indicates the same. On the audio track, the meters are unbalanced, left is close to 0, while right is about 10db lower. It sounds balanced on my speakers, but doesn't look it on the screen. I've bypassed all plugs on the Aux, so it should be same thing coming in on the aux (balanced signal). Putting a meter plug on the Audio shows balance. WTH!!! Never seen this before.

Even more strange is if my system has been idle for a while, the meter will show balanced signal for first few seconds of audio then go back to same unbalanced state. Thoughts?

Agreed, very weird!!

Here is a screenshot showing sum signal in on Aux and Audio track. You should be able to see the internal routing using stereo bus named Mix.

Here is a video of the session playing for first time after being closed down overnight. Notice signal is balanced until about 39 seconds. From now on the session will start unbalanced, unless its idle for say a couple hours. the first play seems fine for about 40 seconds. There is no automation on the panning.

Sorry, I updated my sig....it used to be HD2 on like PT10, its HDX on 12.8 until I get my download account sorted out to upgrade version. thx

Haha, right?!?!?

Ok, I'll keep messing with it, maybe try re-install. Hopefully its some weird thing happening that is solved once I upgrade software. It wasn't happening before I went on hiatus, so not sure what changed. Thanks

Just double-check this compatibility page before you reinstall

Maybe thats the issue. I'm running Windows 10 1903. I dont see a supported PT version on that chart, but can assume PT 12 is not supported based off the chart.
