back up before upgrading
HEllo All,
Just updated our profile to 2.9, before we did it we backed up the console onto a USB stick, we now cant reload our plugins. We upgraded to 2.9 from 2.7, is this a problem ? We dont have our original disks which is a problem. Any suggestions ? Cheers Andi |

Re: back up before upgrading
You should have all your plugin installers at hand, before upgrading.
All the authorizations remain intact in the iLoks. But you'll have to reinstall some plugins. I believe you can download them from their websites. If you are lucky and have an authorization for Troo Trace, it may be difficult to find its installer, unfortunately. Seeing by the good side, now you will have all the installers and it'll be less painful in the next major upgrade. Good luck. Regards, MJ |

Re: back up before upgrading
Hi Andi,
When doing a full system restore (as opposed to an update), the entire hard drive is reformatted and refreshed. This is why the plug-in installers are no longer found on the console after a full restore. A system update leaves the User partition of the hard drive unchanged, which leaves the pre-installed plug-in installers available in the "Previous Installs" section of the Options>Plug-Ins page. As with regular computer maintenance, it's a good idea to do a full restore at least once per year. This does require a bit of advance planning though, to make sure you have the necessary plug-in installers. The installers can be downloaded from the plug-in developers web sites. A copy of the VENUEpack plug-in CD is included with each VENUE 2.9 software upgrade kit. Alternately, it can be downloaded here: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=357793 Previous versions of VENUEpack (including the TrooTrace installer) can be found by serachign the Avid knowledgebase for "venuepack" Also, if you use any plug-ins with critical updates you shoudl download and install the latest versions from here: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=356583 Sheldon |

Re: back up before upgrading
I keep all my installers on a pair of USB sticks.
Two copies in case one dies. |

I also keep a restore kit with each console that consists of the latest software CD and a USB drive containing all the plugins we use on that console. Dave
