Hi guys, bumping this because I'm having the same issues but with 10.3.7.

Did anyone resolve this without a reinstall of Windows? It appears to happen having ran a session ok then opening another. Its not specific to a certain session or plugin being opened.

I also get the R6016 error while PT 10.3.10 tries to open. I have done multiple complete uninstall, restart, reinstalls and continue to get this error.

I tried your suggestion with the C++ update and link. I tried installing both the x86 version and the x64 version. Each time I get a message saying I already have a newer version installed and I have to exit.

Thanks
Kevin

Posting in case some other poor unlucky user runs into this.

Just ran into this error after updating to 12.3

Uninstalled and reinstalled the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable for both x64 and x86 per Microsoft support. No joy.

Kept getting the error when ProTools reached "Velvet" while loading plug ins. Moved Velvet to unused folder. All the other Air instruments seem to still be ok.

Bizarre behavior #2
On the first pass it kicked out all the .aax plug ins from UAD saying they weren't valid .aax plug ins. Moved them all back to 'used' folder from 'unused' and it loaded fine the next time around.

Bizarre behavior #3
ProTools hangs when loading Vienna Instruments. Says it can't find a dll file in the windows system folder. Searching the System 32 folder reveals that the dll file is indeed present. This may be an eLicenser issue, but it worked fine prior to upgrading to 12.3 from 12. Per Steinberg web site, unloaded eLicense center from control panel and reloaded the most current copy of eLicenser Control Center from their web page. No joy. Moved Vienna Instruments to Unused plug ins. ProTools 12.3 completes loading. Fortunately I have the Vienna Instruments loaded on a Cubase rig and the elicense works just fine there. Waiting to hear from Steinberg support after submitting a support ticket.

Whenever you do get this problem resolved, (assuming it is related to Microsoft C++ redistributable), get rid of that mismatched memory. You have 2 different speeds and different memory timings. When running both 1066 and 1334 speeds, you computer will operate all memory at the 1066 speed. If you really need 16GB of ram, you should buy a matched set (2x8, or 4x4), that has been tested together. Even if you buy some "identical" Corsair memory to what you currently have, it may not work properly with the existing memory. Or it MAY be fine, but to eliminate the possibility of problems, assuming you like recording better than computer troubleshooting, use completely matched memory.

Good luck on solving the problem at hand!

Interesting. I just attempted an upgrade from a rock-solid PT HD Native 11.1.3 system to PT HD Native 12.3. I'm getting this same R6016 error message while PT is scanning plugins upon launch. The error is unrecoverable and task manager must be used to terminate PT. I spent the $599 for the upgrade but needed to roll back to PT 11 in my studio.

My memory sticks are matched... but I have the exact same motherboard... Gigabyte EX58-UD3R.

Another interesting fact: I've upgraded my Windows 10 laptop and PT HD 12.3 performs perfectly there.

Guess I'll open a ticket with Avid support.

Update: Issue Resolved. There were two plugin folders in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins that were causing the issue. I moved old Air Instruments Expansion Pack "Vacuum Pro" and "Velvet" out of that folder to my desktop and no more R6016 errors. Since that resolved the issue, I just deleted the folders I moved to my desktop. All good now. Pro Tools 12.3.1 working great here.

Hope this helps others.
