Default Best source for external Seagate SCSI Cheetah drives?

I've been searching to find external Cheetah SCSI drives at the optimum combination - lowest price, but good durable enclosures. It's too easy buying a Cheetah from Megahaus or O.W.C. who offer low prices but the drives come in poor enclosures. Since the drives are what they are, I figure it's best to look for a good enclosure, buy the drive from the cheapest reseller, and put 'em together. I've found a good enclosure from Storcase - not their expensive Datasilo, but the moderate priced DataStacker DS60. Anyone else here have any ideas?

WHOA! Glyph has always designed and built their solutions... 1U, 2U, and the famous 3U Trip racks. Glyph chose the Kingston Hot-Swap carriers and receivers years ago, and since then, these Hot-Swap parts have become the standard. You should NOT cut corners on the "enclosure" in which your audio lives. A high quality power system (power supply, AC/DC filtering hub, etc.) does lower the failure rate, and even prevents crashes, due to power fluctuations. Plus, once you have a Glyph rack, it's never outdated, as you can always upgrade your Glyph rack directly with Glyph. I know this because I was a heavy Glyph user before I ever thought of working at Glyph as a product specialist. Please feel free to reply or contact me. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I found a place in LA that has good prices on the Kingston SCSI drive carriers & receivers:

Recorded Media Supply
3818 W Burbank Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91505
(818) 562-6527

I have no connection with them except as a satisfied customer. Nice people, and they're very ProTools-savvy.

I got mine in a couple of places... I live in LA so Unitek (a big Apple retailer) got me some and a case to put it in...

They show up on Ebay all the time too. If they are missing pieces, contact Storcase Tech Support and they'll fix you up with the missing documentation, parts, etc... for free. I purchased 2 carriers and receivers for a total of $60.

Anyways, info on models can be found at www.storcase.com The basic SCSI ones that Glyph and Rorke use are D100i (with letters afterwards that show color/scsi/ata, etc...)

So just to follow up on my original post-
I did get some 36GB Cheetah drives from www.newegg.com ($200 each), and I got Storcase DataStacker DS160W enclosures ($107 each) from www.techsavings.com. The enclosures are beautiful products! Excellent construction and 7 yr. warranty. So for $307 I got some great drives. The downside is techsavings took 2 to 3 weeks to get the enclosures to me Oh well, nothing's perfect.
