Where is the TRIAL VERSION for Pro Tools Software!?!

Well? I want to try Pro Tools but not if there isn't a trial version.. such as Cakewalk allows its customers.

That would be pretty sad and rather shifty if there wasn't.

SInce Digidesign is a hardware company that makes software to use their hardware, there is no trial version. There is (or was anyway) a protools free version but it only runs on WIndows 98.

no but seriously for UPGRADE purposes it would be helpful. Such as I have the hardware which has been sitting in a box for over a year because of its incompatibility.. BUT do i want to pay $75 to upgrade to the Vista version for my brand new desktop to see if it works and then have it not work, which will enrage me? No. Which is why a trial version would be USEFUL.

There is no Vista version of PT at the moment.

There was a demo version of PT Mpowered that you could download from this page , but I don't think the "Download Demo" link (in a tab on the left of that page) is working at the moment.

Actually 7.4 will run on Vista Business and Ultimate.

I Beta'd Vista. I hate it. Really disliked it. Can't stand it. Reminds me of a aging streetwalker with a facelift. A lot of XPs tawdry underpinnings show up if you no where to look...

Still when I build my Quad I left room for a 3rd partition...even labled it Vista

And now that 7.4s here I could actually install it. I'm curious to see how PT runs.

If you could install Vista with out the it steamrolling your XP bootloader I would be more tempted. There is no simple unistall if you decide you don't like Vista. Lots of mucking about with restoring bootloaders and the like.

Yet the allure of the unknown is tugging....
