This was in the read me attached to the AAX download ;

CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.0 (AUTO-TUNE 8.1)

The following changes were made for version 8.1.0:
• Fixed several issues in the placement in time of Graph Mode data, especially at sample rates other than 44.1K (or its multiples), as well as when tracking pitch starting at different locations in the timeline.
• Fixed a crashing problem seen in version 8.0.6 when used with certain other plug-ins.
• Fixed a delay problem when applying time changes.
• Fixed a problem where certain parameters would not be properly restored
when loading sessions that were saved while in Graph Mode.
• Fixed an issue where the new check box for automatically checking for updates would not retain its value.
• When completing a tracking operation in Graph Mode, the graph will now only zoom to the newly tracked data if the Auto Scroll button is turned on.

Did it keep Ver 8.0 for you as well? Do I need to manually remove it?

Will 8.1 open older 8.0 AT pluggin with the right settings?

Yes it did keep my previous version 8.04 (as shown in your screen shot) , and when I inserted that old AutoTune 8.04 version on an insert slot within ProTools 11.3 ...,

-it opened with a message reminding me a new version was available (even though I had already installed the new version 8.1)

To fix this ...,

..., all I did was close Pro tools ,
and then I deleted the old version 8.04 from my AVID plugins folder (shown as; Auto Tune + Time).

After this - as I have a Mac,
I repaired disk permissions to my Mackintosh HD (in disc utilities) then restarted my Mac ....,

- upon restart and re-opening protools , I now have only AutoTune 8.1showing in my plug-ins lists.


RE; your other question ,

From the attached "read me" notes that came with the 8.1 update ;
..., I am presuming it will keep settings and saved projects from any previous Autotune 8 versions , but not from autotune 7 etc ...,

This actually sucks. Its like Izotope updates. You remove ver 8.0 and then open a session with only 8.1 installed and then protools complains, there is no 8.0 ver sion and the pluggin is deactivated. so you need both 8,0 and 8,1?

How does this help. I never got it.

We are always told to make sure all your pluggins are up to date etc etc. but now when I do that with autotune, and izotope ( like iris or RX advanced ) y=the new version installs seperate and if you remove the old version, you can sucessfully open the old sessions using the old version, cause the doesnt automatically open the new version with the old sesttings?????

I installed ver 8.1 and it kept ver 8 ( pitch n time) so I decided to remove version 8.0( pitch n time) because in protools land we are always told to " make sure all your pluggins are up to date" but now when I open an older session, Im told that AT8.0 pitch n time is not in my pluggins folder, so I had to re install it. now im running OLD 8.0 and new 8.1 at the same time. So when I have to " trouble shoot" and " make sure all my pluggins are up to date" I cant cause I cant afford to open old sessions and not have the right AT settings as AT 8.0 will be de activated if I remove it, cause its not there.
I know Izotope does the same. so there's no "backward compatability"
Why cant 8.1 open 8.0?

There must have been a specific issue fixed that would have impacted backwards compatibility for them to do this.

So long as session created pre 8.1 will load and the right version, and same for post 8.1 sessions, it's no big deal.

I know its probably not a big deal.

But I think what about past PT 12 and then there's and issue and Im told to make sure I have "latest versions" then we on autotune 8.1.11111 and I have to remove 8.0. then I cant access any of my old sessions. Imagine wave 9 pluggins doesnt open sessions that have waves 8 pluggins in.
Big bols up. Same with Izotope. I now have RX advnaced 3 and RX advanced 4. so 3 is not being developed any further with updateds or bug fixes, but if I remove it, I can open old session that had RX 3 in it, cause RX 4 doesnt opn RX 3 pluggins.
