Default 15 TB Samsung ssd

Just saw a pointer to this in another forum and thought I'd pass it along. Samsung has an 2.5 inch ssd that has 15 TB of storage space but it's expensive at over $10K. See these links:

Designed to replace a rack of more of SAS spinners. And may be quite economic doing so.

But SAS is like SATA, old and slow. Look out for M.2 and U.2 PCIe drives. And in the server/enterprise space I expect to see NVMe over fabric (e.g. 40Gbit/100Gbit Ethernet) replacing a lot of traditional high-performance SAS, FiberChannel, and direct attached/internal server storage, etc. NVMe over fabric uses the low-latency NVMe driver interface/magic developed for PCIe but ships that over Ethernet or similar. For audio workstations I really expect consumer class M.2 PCIe/NVMe internal storage to just crush everything. Including Mac users who will hopefully access that over Thunderbolt 3 in future. High-end studios/folks with large asset libraries can have a lot of moving wheels and a hard job keeping up with/leveraging storage technology improvements, but that's not unusual. The penalty there for being too much at the bleeding edge, is well, bleeding a lot...

I guess the old saw is true - those that live on the bleeding edge are doomed to get cut by it.

What is 'NVMe over fabric'?

I doubt it will be $200 in a year. 15 TB seems like overkill except for server farms or business applications. But what do I know! Here is my first computer from 1984 or so, it didn't have a hard drive at all, that was like a $1,200 option for 20MB or so if I recall.
