iLok is Flashing Blue and Doesn't Work

So my iLok is now flashing blue rapidly when inserted, and when I open Pro Tools, it acts like it's not there. It was doing this before, but it stopped at some point. I've tried restarting with it in, restarting with it out and inserting it afterward, and changing what port it's in, but nothing works. Anyone know what's wrong?

iLoks are just terrible, evil things.

Platform? OS version? What version of the iLok driver are you using? If on Windows have you disabled USB power management?

Can you test it on another computer to see if it work there?

I am on an iMac with Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8, with 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3 and 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory. I have Pro Tools 9.02 and Mbox 2 Mini. I can't try it on another computer.

And what iLok drivers are you running? Basically reinstall the current driver anyhow as a test.

Unplug any other USB peripherals you can, fully power off and power back on your Mac, try the iLok in all the USB ports.

If you go to the iLok web site does it see the iLok?

If none of that works it is likely a failed iLok and you need to start an RMA return process, details on the iLok home page.

Most likely a bad iLok, I've had this happen before. Send it back to iLok to have them pull off all your licenses and replace the broken iLok (they're pretty good about getting this done fast).

I really can't see why it would be, though. Nothing happened to it.
Furthermore, it was flashing a while ago, and i removed it and put it back on a later date, and it was working again. Then I removed it and put it back, and it was flashing again.

Trust me and contact iLok (or don't, I don't care). I've had the same exact thing happen, blinks when I plug it in. Sent back to iLok and they sent me a new one and recovered all of my licenses off of it.

I've been jumping through the hoops at ilok and they're saying that's what i need to do. Now they're charging me $65 even though I'm still under warranty. You know what, maybe I'll just find a cracked torrent for pro tools, it wouldn't be so damn difficult.

Is this an iLok 2? It has a two year warranty. The old iLoks are probably out of warranty at this point. It ended up costing me nothing, but I think if you didn't have Zero Down Time and need to rush to get licenses back, they will charge a hefty fee (I decided not to dot that, I just waited for them to recover my licenses, took less than two weeks, and included a brand new iLok free of charge). Suffice to say, I have ZDT now.
