Default dae error 7101 with pt5.1.1 on win2k

i understand from the web answerbase that this is a problem with dae when 1622 is first and is fixed in beta version of dae....
i have 1622, 88824 and adat bridge
cards are mix core, mix farm and mix i/o
1622 is connected to mix i/o
88824 and adat A are connected to mix core
adat B is connected to mix farm
why does pt take the "first" i/o to be connected to the mix i/o?
i would think that it would take the mix core i/o to be "first"....
if i don't want to use the beta dae, do i have to physically change the connection on the back of the cards to the i/o boxes to change who is "first"?
if i use the beta dae, how is it working on win2k pt?
thanks in advance

Hi there,

you can't connect the ADAT bridge across two cards. Each unit with 16 inputs or outputs (Adat Bridge, 1622) will have to be connected to a single Pro Tools card.
You can put two units with 8 inputs or outputs (888/24, 882/20) on a single PT card using a y cable.

The 1622 on the MIX I/O card is the only unit that is wired correctly, so it is chosen first.

In your setup, the best (I think) way to connect would be:

Mix Core -> ADAT BRIDGE
MIX FARM -> 1622
Mix I/O -> 888/24

This way the adat bridge is clock master and the other units will slave to it, which is useful for instance when you're connecting to a digital mixer.

All this will work with Pro Tools 5.1 1 under Windows 2000, *if* your PC conforms to http://www.digidesign.com/compato/pt24perfwin.html
