Default Help for Microphone combination

Hi guys..
Sorry for the lame topic, but I just bought my new Focusrite red 8 mic pre amp. Can anyone suggest a good vocal microphone (for all around styles)that make a good combination of my Focusrite red 8 mic pre amp ??
I heard that you dont have to use expensive mic if you have already a good mic pre's like my focusrite. Is that true ?
I am planning to buy AKG solid tube, but someone says that you don't have to, because AKG solid tube have their own pre amp when you bought it, so you don't need two pre's. ?????
Please tell me, which is better in combination with my pre amp ? :

1) Rode NT-2
2) AKG solid tube
3) Neumann TLM103
4) Audio Techninca AT4047

Thanks for your opinion .

Studio Projects C1 or C3
Rode NTK

Mic price is less of an issue anymore, really.

Not true at all.

A good preamp will help a good mic sound better, but you can't get a cheap mic to sound like a great mic just by running it through a preamp.

However, I firmly believe there is a place for just about any microphone out there. I once recorded lead vocals on a song with a $3 Radio Shack mic to get a desired effect), and Bono records just about all his vocal tracks with a hand held SM58. It really depends on what kind of sounds you're looking for.

Personally I love the AT large diaphragm condenser mics. I own an AT4033 and LOVE it!

Thanks guys, but I narrowed it down to 3 choices now :

AT 4033
Studio Projects C1
AKG Solid Tube

which of this 3 mics I should get for all around styles ? (Please don't tell me it's up to me, depends on taste, etc. If you were me, which one would you buy ?)

Thanks a lot

I blind a/b'ed a Studio Projects C1 with a Shure KSM 44 (in cardioid), AKG 414 (also in cardioid) and chose the C1 on my voice and my acoustic guitar.

Mics -> Soundcraft console -> Pro Tools Mix 24.

The 414 seemed more "flat". ie. less top and bottom, or "pop" sound. I would use it in a second on many, many things.

The KSM 44 seemed brighter than the C1. Too bright for me.

4033 is a nice mic, but is NOT a large diaphragm mic. Check out the 4050. I LOVE mine
