Default Random drop outs and related problems

I am having a really harrible time with Protools lately. I'm a long time user. Doing something I have done many times before wth no problem, but now on input and in recording I am getting random very short drop outs. I have tried various different hardware, all with same result. I have reinstalled Mac Os Sierra latest version, created a new user with absolutely nothing running on my mid 2012, Macbook Pro retina 15" with 16gb Ram, internal and external SSD drives, 2.7 gig i7, NVIDIA Geforce GT 650M 1024mb, Intel HD 1536mb. Always a perfectly functional machine.
I have tried Roland Octa Capture, Studio Capture, Digico Console via Waves Soundgrid studio, and so on, all have the same problem, with zero plugins in use, and only 1 track inrecord, only 8 in the session.
To eliminate the computer itself, I quit protools, and using everything else exactly the same, but Tracks Live as rhe recording software, that was just fine, no problems whatsoever.
And I started this with PT 12.8, removed that, put in 12.7, same problems.
In the simplest pissible setup, one usb I/O, and protools, recording to either the desktop or the external SSD, this problem persists. I have tried all the clock reassignments, generally using the I/O device as master, but again nothing seems to help. Changed buffers, etc. anyone have any other ideas!

Default Re: Random drop outs and related problems

Can you list everything in your system including the I/O?
