Default Waves on my mac.. will it be able to perform well?

Ok, im considering buying either Waves gold or platinum
but im concerned on how well it will perform on my existing setup.

1.25 dp MDD (167Hz bus), 1.75 GB ram, 2 Hds one for OSX and one for recording
PTLE 6.2.3 and AMIII
I currently can get 25 davec tracks (w/buffer at 1028)

my arrangements are typically pretty sparse.. 10-12 tracks.. and
my concern would be if I will be able to apply several of these plugs
on at one time.. without crapping out.

1) I appreciate your opinions on how well waves would work on my system.
2) is the extra 600 worth it for platinum?
3) (can of worms question) Is it even worth it to get Waves? im considering
"trying it out" via the Waves Production book that was released a year or
so ago...

Default Re: Waves on my mac.. will it be able to perform w

I have the same system as you, save for only 1.25GB ram, and the Waves Native Power Pack. I've had no problems with the set up. I've done a lot of demo stuff with Reason and Amplitube running, and most tracks have at least a C1 and a Q10, and usually there is a L1 on the master fader and one or two TrueVerbs and I've never had to go up to 1024 buffer size.

I didn't drop the coin on the Platinum or Gold bundles, but the stuff in the NPP is much better to my ears than the bundled Digirack equivalents (although the C1 cannot key off of another track for some reason), so it was totally worth it for me.
