442 interface
I just got an old 442 interface... I know it's an old interface used by avid systems or PTII, I also know that it connect to an Amadeus or PTIII disk i/o. What i'd like to know is witch card will be the best for me, I am currently running on a 9600/300 with SCII card and performer 6.3, and would like to use the 442 with a PT software! Amadeus cards go for about $150 and PTIII Disk i/o for about $300, would I be better of with a 001 and PT LE? Would Digi001 work with the SCII card?

Re: 442 interface
I believe you'll need a Nubus Mac for the 442.

Re: 442 interface
I know for sure that I can connect The 442 interface to a Amadeus (PCI) card, my question should have been, could I use this set up (442 interface with amadeus card) to run PT software and if so witch version (LE, PTII, PTIII, PT24)????

Re: 442 interface
Pro Tools software (up through 3.x) only supported the 442 Interface on a NuBus Audio Card (SA4).
Amadeus was a modified Disk I/O-PCI card (no SCSI) made specifically for Avid. It was never supported by Digidesign software. Here are some abase articles that might help as well... http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=1077 http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=54 http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=53

Re: 442 interface
In one of the spec sheet you linked in your previous messge it says :It can also be used with an Audio Card (SA4) in a PTIII system to provide 4 additional inputs/outputs. (Requires a TDM single piggyback. Doesn't add DSP or voices.) Could I use a PTIII (PCI) disk i/o card to hook the 442 or is it only with the SA4 and a nubus PTIII disk i/o? I am only trying to find a use for that 442 interface! Maybe with a project card and digital performer!

Re: 442 interface
A 442 Interface and card could be added to a Pro Tools III system to get 4 more inputs/outputs. It would look something like this:
1) Disk I/O <-> 882 or 888 (8ch) Audio Interface 2) DSP Farm 3) Audio Card (SA4) <-> 442 (4ch) Audio Interface All cards would need TDM Piggybacks and be linked with a TDM Cable.
