I get the same error. However, I have found that if I unplug my Guitar Port from the USB port, the error goes away and I am able to open PT Free and play the sample seesion without any problem. Has anyone else run into this issue?

My System Specs:

Celeron 1.3
384mb RAM
20gb AT100 7200rpm HD
WinME
On board AC97 soundcard

I have an AMIII card, and PR 6.1 on the way. I just wanted to get familiar with PT before I get the rest of the gear.

Thanks,

-Dan-

I used to get the error 6008 and the program would not open. Turns out I was using windows 98 first edition. As soon as I moved to 2nd edition the error went away and everything was fine, so double check.
