Default Weird FW driver issue

Hey all, talking about a PC that is a match to my specs below with a DIGI003 controller. When the Legacy FW driver is selected, the 003 works perfectly, but the computer keeps kicking the drive back to another of the 3 resident drivers on the system. I have tried 2 different(but compatible) FW cards and replaced the CMOS battery, but it still only works until the next boot. When you choose to change the driver(in Device Manager) you see an option to "uninstall driver", but that is a misnomer as it simply uninstalls(disables) the hardware. The driver never actually gets uninstalled, and I cannot find anything on the internet on how to really remove the unwanted drivers. Any Windows genius have any advice?

Nobody? That's a bummer. Starting to look like it will be easiest to replace the 003 with a USB interface and a separate control surface

CCleaner won't work for you? It scans the registry for stuff that isn't used. Might work for you just be careful

Aside from that you can go to the device manager and find the name of the offending driver and then hunt it down manually, and remove it

Have you tried this...
  1. Right click on your firewire controller and choose Update Driver Software
  2. Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"
  3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  4. Click Have Disk
  5. Click Browse
  6. Locate the following - c:\windows\system32\drivers\1394ohci.sys
  7. Accept the alert about unsigned drivers

Will give that a shot. Hadn't thought about Ccleaner, but its worth a go! Thanks. Already tried to find and manually remove the driver and that was a fail
