Mbox Mini 3G Interface Stopped Working 8 Months After Purchase
I have to say that I am frustrated and disappointed that I have spent a lot of money on my Mbox Mini 3 Generation with the Pro Tools Express software for it only to stop working after 8 months.
My unit has never been dropped, banged or kept in environmental conditions that could affect my unit like (humidity or water) yet after doing a full clean uninstall of Pro Tools Express and all Drivers and reinstall almost 6 times, the unit is not streaming at all, so pro tools will not load as it keeps saying "Hardware not connected", yet it is, it's lite but just won't stream, I've changed the usb ports, done a clean uninstall and reload of drivers and software, yet no streaming of the device, hence can't access Pro Tools Software. Then went to Avid website to look for updated drivers only to find out that all drivers for the Mbox mini 2 and 3 has been removed from the site and are unavailable which then forces people to have to upgrade to the next model. This has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I do not feel comfortable upgrading to an Mbox Pro or Fast Track Duo or whatever other model they are pubbing. This product isn't rocket science and shouldn't have users feeling like they are playing Russian roulette every time they turn on their computer and attempt to load Pro Tools that the hardware will not just all of a sudden stop streaming for no reason. I feel like my $450 has just been put in the bin and that was money I worked hard to save to build my studio and the thought of putting out another $600 to $800 in less than a year for another upgraded model just makes me sick as what if it happens again and the unit just stops working I think I would cry as that's a lot of money for me personally that I don't have for what would then be two expensive paperweights. I've decided that I will start to research other interfaces and software for my studio, but I think I'm going to put a period on Avid and Pro Tools and would not recommend that anyone take the chance as you may end up like me with an expensive paperweight. To Avid I suggest that you start to reinvest in creating a high quality product especially for the amount of money you charge for your products, selling an expensive paperweight is not the way to operate a music software and interface company. |

Mbox Mini 3rd Gen seem to be downloading fine for me:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...x-Mini-Drivers Can you test the Mbox on another computer? Also you might want to try another USB cable and use a different USB port on your computer. I know there had been issues with some USB audio devices and USB3 ports, so if you have USB3 try connecting it to a USB2 port. Joel

If it's only 8 months, it should still be under warrantee.
