Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
When I brought in my wife's desktop computer to the computer shop a couple of months ago, I handed this new 525 GB SSD to the tech and asked him to install it as my D: Drive I was going to have Pro Tools program on the C: Drive and save all of my PT sessions audio to the 525 GB SSD as the D: drive.
But he assured me that it would make much more sense to install the SSD as the C: Drive and move the 1 TB hardrive down into the D: Drive (Data) Now I'm wondering if he might have steered me wrong. I hope not! I just checked my computer and pretty much all programs including PT12 are stored on the SSD C: Drive and nothing much is on the 1 TB D: Drive My PT audio files are all being saved on the C: drive, am I ok to leave it like that or should I send this stuff over to the 1 TB drive? Quote:
Oh, and yes, I WOULD move all your sessions over to your dedicated recording drive Last cent's worth, on a 2-drive system, sample libraries belong on the C: drive

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
That is good to know. Thank you for helping me out with this!
I will have to try to figure out what the speed of this spinner hard drive is. |

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
Google the specs for the PC , it should tell you. In the properties tab of each hard drive(right click menu) you should be able to find the hard drive model if your PC had different configurations available when sold.

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
Go to piriform.com and download the free version of Speccy. It will give you the model and serial number of all your drives, their temperatures and SMART health as well as other information on the drives and all the other hardware in your computer.

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
Do you mean you have the reverb plugin inserted on most tracks? You could save more system resources by having just a few reverbs inserted on auxes and using sends and returns. I rarely use more than 2 or 3 different reverbs in a session, and use aux sends on the tracks to control how much I need. Though one might occasionally want to insert a reverb directly on a track, most engineers will use sends instead of inserts.

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
I am using sends from various tracks to a master reverb track.

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
Why are we three pages in something that sounds like a possible memory leak, and troubleshooting (described under help us help you up the top of each DUC page) of looking for memory leaks by temporarily removing plugin files should have been done... before posting here. Memory consumption has nothing to do with disk hardware setups or the errors reported, so I'm not sure why we are there. Look squirrel...

Re: PT crashing despite having 24 GB of RAM.
Because Pro Tools 11 (non HD) does not have disk cache. One of the big HD features given to Pro Tools standard users in Pro Tools 12.
Next question. |
