Don't add milk or sugar – drink it straight.
Wait 'til it's cooled down a bit, before drinking.

'Sentinel' can cut Emergency Response Time in half!

'Sentinel' – by IMR Technologies Pty. Ltd.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-01-1...eality/9321824

“The device, known as Sentinel, is fire, water and chemical resistant and can handle 100 G-forces.
It is triggered by sensors on impact, by fire, when submerged in water, on airbag deployment or even self-activated using an SOS button. While designed primarily for cars, the device can be adapted to work on farm machinery, motorbikes and planes.
Meta-analysis from Europe shows installing a crash device like the Sentinel can halve the emergency response time, which is predicted to save between 150 and 200 Australian lives and prevent 2,500 profound injuries each year.

The European Union has acknowledged the impact the devices can have, approving plans to make an emergency call feature mandatory in all new cars and vans from April.
The system, known as eCall, is predicted to prevent 2,500 road deaths and save 32 billion euros ($49 billion) a year.”

Standing up for the oppressed

Abraham Lincoln quote:
"All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Powderfinger - Black Tears

Controversy
On 2 May 2007, mX, an afternoon newspaper in Brisbane, revealed that the defence team for Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley would be referring the song to Queensland Attorney-General Kerry Shine, due to concerns that the song's lyrics could prejudice the 2004 Palm Island death in custody, where Hurley had been charged for manslaughter. On 2 May Hurley's lawyer Glen Cranny said "The content and proposed timing of the song’s release raises some serious concerns regarding Mr Hurley’s trial."[1] It was claimed by the defence team that the song's lyrics were similar to the events that took place surrounding the death of Mulrunji. The band's manager, Paul Piticco, conceded the song was about the case but insisted they were not specific enough to cause a problem.[2] The album was set to be released 10 days before Hurley would face Townsville Supreme Court, on 12 June. There were concerns that the case's jury could potentially be biased by the lyrical content.[3][4]
Due to the concerns raised, Powderfinger sought legal advice. Then Queensland premier, Peter Beattie, who had legal experience, said the song was likely to be protected by free speech laws, noting "The matter would have to go pertain specifically to the issues of the trial" for a "prejudice" argument to be raised.[5]
Several days after the initial threats of legal action, Powderfinger backed down and announced they would change the song. The band's lawyers sent Shine a copy of the new, altered lyrics. It was then reported that an analysis of the new lyrics found they were safe to release.[6] This was the version that would later be used on the album.[7] A statement from Shine's office stated that "Crown Law has examined the lyrics. Crown Law have advised Mr Shine's office the lyrics raise no legal concern."[8]
In a June 2007 interview, Fanning noted that Powderfinger hoped to re-release the original version of the song in the future, after the case had been settled. He also said that he was not angry about having to change his lyrics, but lamented the lack of Australian musicians willing to challenge the status quo.[9]
The legal threats against the song were attacked heavily by some writers, including Andrew Stafford of The Bulletin. He noted that it was highly unlikely "Black Tears" would be released as a single, so potential jurors would need to "buy a copy of Dream Days in the ten days between its release and Hurley's trial just to hear the song". He also noted that Piticco had stated the lyrics could just as easily refer to a death in Brisbane, not on Palm Island.[4]

Do you know why you can’t get cashews in the shell. I had no idea. Actually, I never thought about it. But, come to think of it, you can get almonds, walnuts, pistachios, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, chestnuts, pine nuts, pecans, and even macadamia nuts in a shell, but not cashews.

Why? It turns out that the cashew shell is toxic. However, that raised the question of what a cashew looks like in its shell. Again, I had no idea. When I found out, I knew more people should see it. It is weird looking, and very caustic, too!

Cashews, like many of the culinary nuts listed above, are not true nuts in the botanical sense. True nuts develop a hard wall around the seed (e.g. hazelnuts). Cashews instead have a lining around the seed that is filled with a nasty fluid.

Cashews are in the same family (Anacardiaceae) as mangoes, pistachios, sumac, and poison-ivy. Many plants in this family produce Urushiol, an oil that can cause a nasty, painful rash. (a friend of mine had not been told about this when he came across them in Brazil, and burned his mouth on a fresh cashew. Ouch. He also took some pictures of the local “caju” fruit.) The cashew stores this icky stuff in the lining around the seed, which makes cashews very difficult to process. They are usually roasted to release the fluid, which is collected for other uses, such as Varnish. After that, the hardened lining must be removed by hand.

That’s pretty weird, but it gets weirder. In the cashew, the ovary develops outside of the fruit, which really makes it a false fruit, since by definition fruits have seeds inside. The false fruit attached to the false nut looks like a pear with a little boxing glove hanging off the bottom. When ripe, the whole thing falls off the tree, and the bottom part is gathered for processing.

The false fruit (called cashew fruit or cashew apple) is edible, but it is very perishable. It is often left to rot, but can be eaten raw, cooked, or used to make a liquor called feni. While the fruit and its juice are available in parts of the world where cashews grow, they are apparently too perishable to appear in stores in the US.

I am MAD
