Default Issues when playing back files on PT11

I have the eleven rack 1.1.6 which I'm using with PT11 11.0.2. The everything is great until i go to play what i just recorded. Sounds like a bad robotic static (best i can do to describe it) during recording the sound is great just when playing back. Same thing happens when I try to work on the pre-recorded sessions that came as samples in PT 11. I'm very new to PT and daws as a whole, so hopefully is just a beginners mistake on settings.

I followed the system optimization instructions from avid. I have looked on forums all over through google searches but cant find nothing on my particular issue.

I hope this is the right place to put this tread up. Thanks in advance.

SO many questions, so little information! Mac? PC? What OS? Where's the SANDRA report so we can see what you're working on?

I don't see a mention of a separate dedicated recording drive, which is a necessity. Partitions on the main drive don't count as a dedicated drive. I'd say address that issue first. But we still need the sandra report.

The C: drive is my main boot drive and my I: drive is my recording drive. they are two separate drives.

well for one, your I drive that you record to should be at least 7200 rpm. Pro tools does not recommend less than 7200 rpm for the recording drives.

Its 5900 and 4TB. That will be slow for that massive of a drive.

Definitely slow and it's probably a green drive as well. I'm a bit suspect of the Sandra report of the drive speed - 5900 rpm? I thought typical speeds were like 5400, 7200 rpm? Unless that's what speed his drive was spinning at when the Sandra was generated?

Seagate does list some drives as 5900. I'm not sure if that's the actual spindle speed or a average of of all the speeds on its Intellipower series of drives. Still falls into the green class for me and I would replace it with a genuine 7200 RPM drive.

Sorry for the noob ass question, but what do u mean a green drive?
Also what 7200 rpm hd manufacturer would you recommend?
